Getting in & out

The transit reality.

MetLife has no direct subway service. Every fan arrives by NJ Transit, bus, rideshare, or car — which means the post-match window is brutal without a plan. Here's what actually works.

The train platform at Secaucus fills in 8 minutes after the final whistle. Walk to the far end before the crowd moves.

Where the fans gather

Two nations, two neighborhoods.

Brazil supporters

The Ironbound, Newark

Ferry Street in Newark's Ironbound district is the closest thing the New York metro has to São Paulo. The Brazilian expat community here is large, loud, and well-organized on matchdays. Arrive by 15:00 for a table — the neighborhood fills by 16:30.

Spots: Seabra's Marisqueira (Ferry St), Fornos of Spain (watch parties on the back terrace), Pão de Queijo Café for pre-match snacks.

NJ Transit · Broad St Station · 22 min from Penn Station

Morocco supporters

Astoria, Queens

Astoria holds one of the largest North African communities on the East Coast. The stretch of Steinway Street between 28th and 31st Avenues becomes a second home on major match days — cafés stay open, flags go up, and the outdoor seating fills hours before kickoff.

Spots: Steinway St hookah lounges broadcast every match. Kebab Palace and Fatima's Kitchen for tagine. The N/W trains from Times Square reach Astoria in 25 minutes.

After the final whistle

The post-match reality.

The match ends around 20:00 ET. Eighty thousand people exit simultaneously. The first train leaves Secaucus at roughly 20:22 — if you're not already walking, you're waiting 40 minutes for the next one.

The smarter move: don't race. The stadium has three bars that stay open post-match. Let the crowd thin for 30 minutes, then walk — the platform is calm by 21:00.

LATE-NIGHT OPTIONS

Post-match at the Ironbound

Bars on Ferry Street stay open until 02:00. The NJ Transit Broad Street trains run until 01:30 — last train from Penn Station back to Newark.

Hoboken

Washington Street bars open until 02:00. PATH from 33rd Street or WTC runs all night. The walk from the PATH station to the waterfront takes 6 minutes.

Stay put in Secaucus
